Funke Quick Coupling
Funke Quick Coupling
Chamber installations can be installed or removed quickly and easily.
The complexity of requirements in wastewater disposal and stormwater treatment continues to increase. As a result, there is an increasing need to install functional elements such as filters, immersion pipes, throttle elements, sensors and more in chambers or kerb gullies.
On the other hand, rising safety standards and increasing demands are being placed on the quality of work for sewer company employees who carry out servicing, cleaning or repairs to the aforementioned functional elements.
The Funke Quick Coupling makes it possible to easily and conveniently remove the aforementioned functional elements from a kerb gully or chamber from the top of the ground. Depending on requirements, the Quick Coupling can be fitted with a locking mechanism.
- Functional elements can be removed and reinstalled from ground level
- Chamber access can often be avoided
- Combination with various functional elements possible:
immersion pipes, throttle elements, filters (CompactClean), camera and spray bar… - The camera and spray bar makes pipes accessible for cleaning and inspection
- The built-in parts can be interlocked with a simple twist lock
- Tight connection (DIN EN 1610)
Funke Retention Filter System
The new Funke Retention Filter System is used to treat stormwater runoff. It has a length of 4.87 m, a width of 2.44 m and a height of 0.85 m. The stormwater catchment area is up to 2,500 m². By connecting up to four systems per inlet channel in parallel, the stormwater catchment area can be extended to up to 10,000 m².
The stormwater runoff requiring treatment is cleaned in several stages within the system. First of all, coarse materials are separated in a pre-cleaning process. Finer particles are separated in the subsequent sedimentation area. In the third treatment stage, the water is filtered through an also newly developed AreaCleansubstrate. This retains and partially breaks down fine particles and dissolved substances.
- High degree of cleaning (AFS63: 87 %)
- Large stormwater catchment area (2,500 m²)
- Parallel connection of up to 4 systems per inlet channel -> 1 ha stormwater catchment area
- Low installation height of 0.85 between the inlet and outlet invert level of 14 cm
- Substrate is filled into a geotextile bag -> easy substrate change
- Emptying the system after rainfall events -> use of the system volume as retention space
- Low servicing effort
- ½-yearly visual inspection
- Annual inspection of the sedimentation chamber
- Substrate change after 4 years
The Retention Filter System is characterised by low servicing effort. With a semi-annual visual inspection, an annual inspection of the sedimentation chamber and a substrate change every four years, the Retention Filter System is already fully serviced.
Funke CompactClean
Funke CompactClean
Funke CompactClean treats stormwater runoff directly in the kerb gully.
With the new Funke CompactClean, stormwater runoff can be treated directly in kerb gullies. The compact design enables suction and flushing of wet silt traps when installed. The new connection system also allows quick installation and removal of the filter.
Stormwater runoff in kerb gullies is polluted due to material intrusion from vegetation, passers-by, residents and vehicles. It must therefore be cleaned appropriately before being discharged into water bodies. With the Funke CompactClean, stormwater runoff can be treated directly in the kerb gully. In the test based on the DIBt approval principles, retention rates of 77 % for AFSgesamt and 58 % for AFS63 were achieved.
- Simple retrofitting in kerb gullies in accordance with DIN 4052
- Good material retention capacity
- AFS total (0 – 400 µm): 77 %
- AFS63 (0 – 63 µm): 58 %
- Microplastics (63 – 1000 µm): 95 %
- Quick installation and removal
- it is also possible to empty the wet silt trap with the built-in Funke CompactClean
- Odour trap function
Depending on the location, it may be necessary to suck out the silt chamber of the kerb gully more frequently than to change the substrate in the filter. The compact design of the Funke CompactClean allows the silt chamber to be sucked out and rinsed without having to remove the Funke CompactClean. This prevents delay of the servicing process for the kerb gully and means that servicing of the Funke CompactClean can be carried out separately.
Funke substrate application
With modern, innovative products in the field of stormwater management, Funke offers pioneering solutions for the treatment of polluted stormwater runoff. One example of this is D-Rainclean®, a substrate that achieves its exceptional cleaning performance with selected natural minerals with a high exchange capacity and filter effect. Based on the basic formulation, which has been setting standards for many decades both in combination with the D-Rainclean®–filtration channel, but also in open infiltration channels, Funke has now developed further formulations with specifically selected ingredients for special areas of application.
D-Rainclean®is a technical substrate for the decentralised and effective treatment of polluted stormwater runoff. By passing through a D-Rainclean®substrate layer, particulate and dissolved pollutants are retained by processes such as filtration, adsorption, ion exchange, precipitation and biodegradation.
Application areas
- Yards, paths and traffic areas
- Public and private parking areas
- Roof surfaces with increased heavy metal erosion
- Operating areas with high impairment of stormwater quality
- Areas up to cat. III according to DWA-A 102-2
LakeClean is a technical substrate for adsorbing phosphates (PO4-P) and heavy metals from wastewater, stormwater runoff and surface waters. Phosphates have a high bioavailability and are a limiting nutrient for algae growth in surface waters. PO4-P concentrations should therefore be reduced as far as possible before discharging residential runoff into the environment.
Application areas
- As an additional treatment stage after the
irrigation gully of stormwater treatment systems
or small sewage treatment plants - Lake restoration
The formulation of UrbanClean is particularly suitable for retaining particulate, dissolved pollutants and dissolved organic pollutants in addition to the retention of filterable substances, heavy metals and mineral oil hydrocarbons. The substrate is approved by the Swiss Wastewater and Water Protection Professionals (VSA).
Application areas
- according to VSA approval Switzerland:
- Squares and streets
- Mixed settlement drainage area
- Railroad facilities
SpurClean is a substrate which, in contrast to the D-Rainclean® substrate, was specifically designed for high retention and degradation of organic trace substances such as biocides and herbicides as well as their transformation products, in addition to the retention of filterable substances, heavy metals and mineral oil hydrocarbons.
Application areas
- For areas with increased removal of organic
trace substances:- Roof surfaces with sealing membranes that
contain root penetration inhibitors - Facade surfaces with algicide-containing coatings
- Roof surfaces with sealing membranes that
Substrates
New formulations with selected ingredients for special areas of application.
SCFlowControl
SCFlowControl
Long-term operational reliability of throttle units with low flow-rates
The self-cleaning SCFlowControl throttle developed by Funke Kunststoffe is equipped with a cleaning unit that works automatically and is operated without external energy. Depending on the water level, the brush-equipped cleaning unit is moved past the throttle opening from bottom to top (rising water level) or from top to bottom (falling water level) and any dirt that has become stuck is removed.
The dirt carried by stormwater increases the risk of clogging, especially in small throttle openings. It is precisely in this area that cleaning takes place using the SCFlowControl. The cleaning unit even removes fibres that are partially drawn into the throttle opening.
- More operational reliability with smaller flow rates
- Operates without external energy
- Emergency overflows available
- Good accessibility of the relevant components
Extended sedimentation unit
The Funke Sedimentation Unit (DN 1000/4) is now available in an additional effective length of 6 m (DN1000/6). This increases the application scope for the treatment of stormwater to areas of 4,000 m² to 10,000 m². The AFS63 efficiency of the system depends on the size of the stormwater catchment area. For the treatment of runoff from larger areas, several systems can be connected in parallel.
- Advantages
- Flow stages regulate themselves automatically depending on the stormwater intensity
- Less required excavation due to shallow installation
- Cleaning performance: AFS63 between 40% and 60%
- Hydraulic stormwater catchment area up to 10,000 m²
- Low servicing effort
- Easy cleaning thanks to large opening on each chamber
- Flow control flap with float can be completely removed for servicing and cleaning
- Can be used to drain area categories I and II in accordance with DWA-A 102
- Small height offset between inlet and outlet
Extended sedimentation unit
The new effective length extends the range of applications for the treatment of stormwater to areas of up to 10.000 m².
VPC® Delta-Ring
VPC® Delta-Ring
Convincing solution for level invert transitions for pipes of different nominal widths.
Funke has added the VPC® Delta Ring and the VPC® Delta Pipe Coupling to its range of connection technology. The combination of the two products makes it possible to achieve level insert transitions between pipes made of the same or different materials and different diameters.
This allows pipes with a circular inside diameter in a nominal diameter range from DN 100 to DN 1000 to be connected in any combination. A fast product manufacturing process and very short delivery times ensure great flexibility on the construction site.
- Fulfils the requirements
for level inversion according to DIN EN 476 - Many combinations possible
- Consists of extremely resistant elastomer
Funke VPC connection
The lateral integration of sewer connection pipes into the main pipeline is an important point when it comes to planning and implementing drainage systems. The Funke VPC connection DN/OD 160 or 200 enables effortless retrofitting in sewer pipes with nominal diameters from DN 300 to DN 2800.
Thanks to its intelligent, unique design, the sealing collar of the connection adapts seamlessly to the inner contour of the bore side edge of the pipes to be connected. The sealing collar, which is connected to the supporting structure of the connection, follows the curvature along this bore side edge and thus ensures a seamless and stabilising connection. Under the flexible sealing collar is a specially designed seal that is compressed evenly and over the entire surface. This creates an effective positive-fitting and forced-fitted connection.
The versatile solution works regardless of the wall thickness of concrete, vitrified clay or plastic sewer pipes. To install the connection, a core bore of 187 mm or 230 mm is drilled.
- Subsequent integration into sewer pipes with nominal diameters from DN 300 to DN 2800.
- Compact design
- Suitable for wall thicknesses from 7 mm to almost any wall thickness
- Core bore size DN/OD 160: 187 mm, DN/OD 200: 230 mm

Funke Impact Wall Seal
Funke SchlagPressDichtung
Precisely feed through pipes
The new Funke SchlagPressDichtung sets a clear standard for pipe penetrations in existing structures. The innovative annular gap high-pressure connection unit enables fast, precise and site-specific installation – reliably and efficiently.
No matter whether it’s sewage, cable protection, water or gas pipes, the Funke Impact Wall Seal ensures a secure transition through cellar, hall or chamber structures (from DN 1000) and ensures a reliable feed-through.
It consists of a robust EPDM sealing sleeve and polyamide impact segments. The forces are transferred to the seal by precisely hammering in the impact segments, which enables the connection pipes to be positioned easily and securely. The pipes are not only sealed but are also secured against shear and tensile forces.
The Funke SchlagPressDichtung offers generous tolerance compensation, which enables flexible adaptation to different pipe diameters and structural conditions. The absence of corroding steel parts means that the entire construction is corrosion-proof, which increases its longevity and reliability. With the option of a bend of up to 3°, the seal offers a high degree of flexibility during installation without compromising performance. The integrated stop bars ensure precise and uncomplicated installation, which saves time and effort and increases accuracy.
Installation is extremely simple and extremely efficient. First, the connecting pipe is temporarily fixed in place by moving the red pressing elements with thumb and index finger. A light blow with a hammer is then sufficient to drive the elements further forward and achieve an appropriate high-pressure connection. The special feature: No special tools are required! This uncomplicated procedure allows quick and easy installation of the Impact Wall Seal.
- Waterproof up to 2.5 bar
- One size for different connection pipes
- Angulation of 3° possible
- Precise installation thanks to stop bars
- Permanent corrosion-resistance
- Can be installed without special tools
Funke repair pipe (new nominal widths)
Funke has added the two nominal widths DN/ID 350 and DN/ID 450 to its range of repair pipes for the repair of damaged sewers made of vitrified clay or concrete pipes, for example, and the subsequent integration of sewer connection pipes.
In contrast to conventional smooth-walled and wall-reinforced plastic sewer pipes made of PVC-U, PP or PE, the respective inner diameter of the repair pipe corresponds to the inner diameter of the vitrified clay or concrete pipe. Use of the Funke repair pipe or DN/ID high-load sewer pipe ensures a level invert transition to the existing rigid pipe.
This is often an important prerequisite for subsequent trenchless renovation with a pipe liner.
-
- Repair pipe = DN/ID, in contrast to wall-reinforced and smooth-walled plastic sewer pipes according to e.g. DIN EN 1401 or DIN EN 1852 (= DN/OD)
- Resistant pH range 2-12
- Recyclable due to varietal purity
- Quick installation thanks to VPC®– pipe coupling
- Low weight compared to conventional rigid sewer pipes
- Quick installation of sewer connections to the repair pipe, e.g. using a Connex connection
